1896. október 27-ei alapítása óta a Budapesti Fegyház és Börtön speciális funkciója a bv. intézetek közötti fogvatartotti szállítások, mozgatások biztosítása, ebből ered köznyelvi elnevezése is. A „Gyűjtő” napjainkban is az országos körszállítások helyszínéül szolgál, amelyek alkalmával hétfőnként az ország összes bv. intézetéből közel 1500 fogvatartottat szállítanak ide, hogy aztán továbbszállítsák őket a célintézetekbe.

Working in close cooperation with Állampuszta National Prison, Állampusztai Ltd. employs more than a hundred inmates and farms on almost 10.000 hectares. It produces grain and keeps hundreds of mangalitza swine as well as thousands of chicken and sheep-and-goat. The livestock is fed by self-produced forage. Inmates provide all the work around the animals, cleaning, feeding and works related to breeding the horses. The slaughterhouse capable of producing 1100 tons of poultry meat provides frozen chicken meat to the penal institutions and complies with European Union standards.
